A Memorable Advent Talk at Worth Abbey
Last Saturday, December 7th, we gathered in the Spencer Building of Worth School for the second talk in our Preparing for Advent series. Fr. David Jarmy OSB delivered an inspiring and thought-provoking talk titled "Longing for God."
Fr. David guided us through the profound insights of Maria Boulding OSB's book, "The Coming of God," and delved into the journeys of great Christian mystics who have deeply desired God. We explored Psalm 139(138), the writings of Julian of Norwich, and were enriched by the poetry of Gerard Manley Hopkins and of John of the Cross. Fr David shared many examples in iconography which illustrated the themes he explored.
After the talk, many attendees stayed to enjoy a delicious lunch and later joined the monastic community for Divine Office at 1pm.
We eagerly anticipate our next lecture, a Lent talk, scheduled for Saturday, April 5th, 2025.
