Message from the Abbot
As Abbot of Worth, I am committed to promoting the highest standards of safeguarding of children and adults at risk.
The work of creating a culture and practice of safeguarding in all our activities and of responding to those who come forward to report having suffered harm is a vital part of the mission of Worth Abbey.
I acknowledge past failings and am deeply sorry for the suffering that has been experienced by survivors and their families. Abuse has no place in the life of the Church.
Working with the Trustees of Worth Abbey, our safeguarding professionals and the Religious Life Safeguarding Service, we are working hard to create a positive safeguarding culture that respects the dignity of all. I welcome the assurance given in June 2025 by the Catholic Safeguarding Standards Agency and am committed to ensuring that their recommendations are implemented.
