Corpus Christi Celebrations
Our celebration of Corpus Christi yesterday, Sunday 7 June, was a wonderful joyful and prayerful occasion, bringing together parishioners, Worth Abbey Pilgrims, and friends of the Abbey in a new and beautiful expression of our liturgical life.
The day began with Mass in the Abbey Church, followed by a reverent and uplifting procession of the Blessed Sacrament from the East Door to the Piazza.
It was made especially moving by the presence of many young children from the Parish making their First Holy Communion. Their participation brought a particular sense of joy and grace to the celebration, and it was a privilege for the whole community to share in such an important moment in their faith journey.
Many people contributed to making the day such a success. From the stunning flowers and decorations, to the music and singing, every detail reflected care and generosity. The preparation behind the scenes was considerable, with thoughtful planning ensuring a safe and welcoming event for the congregation of around 400 people.
The practical arrangements also played an important role in the smooth running of the day. Volunteers and marshals helped guide parking and manage the flow of people, ensuring the procession route and gathering spaces remained safe and accessible. The Narthex team offered their usual warm welcome, and refreshments were enjoyed by all, with delicious cakes kindly provided by Worth School Catering team.
Particular thanks go to Fr David for initiating this wonderful celebration, which we hope will now become a cherished part of our calendar. We are also grateful to all the volunteers, staff, and Worth Abbey Pilgrims whose time, care, and generosity made the day possible.
On behalf of the monastic community, we extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone involved. It was a day filled with reverence, beauty, and joy.
