The Fr Stephen Ortiger Bursary Fund
The Worth Abbey retreat centre (based around the St Bruno’s facility) offers opportunities for personal and group spiritual renewal with accompanying Benedictine hospitality.
The Fr Stephen Ortiger Bursary Fund exists to enable individuals and small groups, especially young people, who might struggle to afford the costs of residential retreats to access the opportunities offered by the retreat centre.
As Abbot of Worth between 1994 and 2002, Fr Stephen founded a ‘Centre for Spirituality’ at Worth, which – over time – would grow into the present-day Worth Abbey retreat centre.
50th Anniversary Orchard Fund
To mark the 50th anniversary of the consecration of the Abbey Church, we are planting a commemorative orchard of 50 trees on our Estate—one for each year of worship, welcome and witness.
This living legacy will honour our past and nurture the future, we hope it will offer a place of peace, and reflection, for generations to come. We warmly invite you to support this milestone by contributing to the ongoing development of our estate including the creation of a commemorative Anniversary Orchard.
Fr Kevin Taggart Memorial Fund
We invite contributions to a memorial fund, established in memory of Fr Kevin Taggart, the second Headmaster of Worth School, and fifth Abbot of Worth Abbey.
The Fr Kevin Taggart Memorial Fund will help us support the costs of training new members of the monastic community at Worth and the care needs of elderly and infirm brethren.
Fr Kevin began his monastic life at the age of 18, and died at the age of 94, the last member of Worth Abbey’s 1957 founding generation. He dedicated himself to the life and mission of Worth Abbey. To sustain his legacy, we have established this Memorial Fund which is intended to help support the monastic community and its mission to others into the future.
All contributions to the Memorial Fund will be dedicated to sustaining a monastic presence at Worth for many years to come.
