Fr Martin's Lent Talk on Saturday 5th April
We had a wonderful morning on Saturday at the latest of our Lent Talks, where Fr. Martin spoke to a large group about his theme of "Finding God in the Everyday."
Initially, we gathered in the Narthex area of the Abbey Church, where we received a warm welcome from the Worth Abbey Pilgrims, enjoyed coffee, conversation, and delicious baked goods. We then proceeded to the beautiful lecture space of the Spencer Building at Worth School.
Fr. Martin discussed how to meet Christ in daily life, drawing on the Rule of St. Benedict and the lives of the Algerian martyrs. His practical insights into integrating spirituality into everyday activities were both inspiring and enlightening. Fr. Martin concluded his talk with a clip from the award-winning film "Of Gods and Men". The film centres on a true story that took place at the monastery of Tibhirine, where nine Cistercian monks lived in harmony with the largely Muslim population of Algeria until seven of them were kidnapped and assassinated in 1996 during the Algerian Civil War.
The talk was followed by a delicious lunch in the Narthex and Midday Prayer with the monks in the Abbey Church.
For those who were unable to attend or wish to hear the talk again, we have made a recording available online. You can watch the talks here. Additionally, a PDF copy of the talks and further reading is available for you to read or download.
We hope these resources will continue to inspire and support your Lenten journey. Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to making this event memorable.
