Framing the Future: A Benedictine Approach ;Talk by Abbot Christopher Jamison OSB
On Saturday 11 April, Worth Abbey welcomed record numbers to the Unity Room for Framing the Future: a Benedictine Approach, a talk given by Abbot Christopher Jamison OSB, Abbot President of the English Benedictine Congregation and a monk and former Abbot of Worth Abbey.
The event was a resounding success, with the Unity Room filled to capacity and a waiting list in place, reflecting the strong interest in Abbot Christopher’s reflections and teaching. There was a real sense of warmth and attentiveness throughout the morning, with people clearly engaged and eager to take part.
In his talk, Abbot Christopher invited participants to reflect on the idea that “the future has a history”, and to consider what frame we choose when facing what lies ahead.
A thoughtful and wide‑ranging question and answer session followed, with many contributions from those present. Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with numerous guests taking the opportunity afterwards to express their gratitude for the depth, clarity, and quality of the talk, as well as their thanks for the event as a whole.
The morning began with refreshments in the Narthex, which were much appreciated and added to the sense of welcome and community, before concluding with an optional light lunch and Midday Prayer, allowing the gathering to be framed by the Abbey’s rhythm of prayer.
Copies of Abbot Christopher’s books, available on sale during the event,and available in the Abbey Bookshop proved extremely popular, reflecting the strong appreciation for his writing and teaching.
