Worth Abbey Pilgrims is a friendship group centred at Worth.

Worth Abbey Pilgrims offers a vibrant annual programme of events shaped by the rhythm of the Church’s liturgical year. Each gathering provides a space for prayer, reflection, hospitality and community, helping us journey together through the seasons of faith.

Our Vision: to see Worth established as a compelling destination, both physical and spiritual, for those journeying towards Christ.

Our Ambition: to build a friendship and information network, through a sense of welcome and hospitality. Hospitality is a founding Benedictine tradition and it is our aim to fulfil that ancient tradition in a very contemporary way, drawing more people to Worth Abbey where they can deepen their relationship with God.

Our Four Pillars: in partnership across the Pilgrims network, our witness to Christ will be characterised by the following:

  • we offer the Welcome characteristic of the western monastic tradition;
  • we lift our hearts in Worship both in public liturgy and personal prayer;
  • we share the Wisdom of the Catholic Benedictine tradition;
  • we Witness to the presence of Christ in our lives.

Our key annual events typically include:

A preparatory Lenten talk, offering spiritual guidance and reflection as we enter the season of Lent.
An Easter celebration, which may take the form of a retreat day or an inspiring talk
A summer gathering – this year, a special Corpus Christi celebration on 7th June 2026.
Guided walks with the High Weald Walking Festival, showcasing the joy and beauty of the Worth Abbey Estate.
An All Souls remembrance service, where we remember those who have departed
An Advent  talk to help us prepare for the season of Advent
And the highlight of our year: our beautiful Advent Carol Service, a cherished choral tradition that draws our community together in prayerful anticipation of Christmas.

Details of all our events, along with news from the Abbey, St Bruno’s Retreat Centre, and the Brighton Mission, can be found on our News page.
