Living the Rhythm: Interns Capture Monastic Life at Worth Abbey

The Monastic Internship Programme here continues to thrive, offering young men aged between eighteen and thirty-five a unique opportunity to experience the contemplative rhythm of Benedictine life. This summer, we welcomed three interns from Norway, Portugal, and Southern England each bringing energy, curiosity, and a strong sense of engagement to their time with the monastic community.

Over several weeks, the interns immersed themselves in the daily pattern of prayer, work, and reflection. Whether tending the estate, joining the Divine Office, or simply sharing quiet moments, their experience was both grounding and transformative. One described it as a chance to pause, listen, and rediscover his purpose in the stillness and simplicity of monastic life.

As a reflection on their journey, the trio produced a short documentary film. Though not professionally made, the video beautifully captures the essence of their time at Worth. It offers a heartfelt and authentic glimpse into the richness of life at the Abbey, and the enduring relevance of Benedictine values in today’s world.
