The First of Two Lent Talks at Worth Abbey
On Sunday, March 23rd, Worth Abbey hosted a captivating Lent talk titled "77 Years an Altar Server" by Michael Weston-Burt. The event took place at 11:00am in the Unity Room of the Abbey Church, drawing a diverse audience keen to hear more about a nostalgic journey through the evolution of the Mass.
Michael Weston-Burt, with his remarkable 77 years of experience as an altar server, shared his unique perspective on the transformation of the Mass from the traditional Latin Mass of post-war Britain in the 1940s, through the significant changes brought by Vatican II in the 1960s, to the modern English Mass of today. His reflections provided a fascinating glimpse into the life of a server who has always been "up there" on the Sanctuary, witnessing and participating in the action.
